Laura Castañeda - Producer
Laura Castañeda is an award-winning bilingual journalist and documentary filmmaker and media educator whose work often focuses on the U.S. Mexico border.
A Chicago native, she has reported internationally along the border region in Arizona, and California, as well as various formats of storytelling on a variety of subjects.
Castañeda holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois-Champaign-Urbana. Her short documentaries have screened at national film festivals and PBS affiliates in the United States. She is currently in production on her sixth film, Nash’s Journey: From El Barrio to Union Victory (2026), which follows her father's life as a kid from the barrio who rose through the ranks as a UAW local president who spared thousands of working-class people from losing their pensions.
Ninette Sosa is an award-winning journalist and documentary filmmaker whose work explores labor, migration, and social justice through lived experience.
A Guatemalan native, she has reported internationally as a certified war correspondent, covered natural disasters on scene, and told stories of national and global significance for major news networks.
Sosa holds an MA in Documentary Film from the University of Arkansas and a BA in Sociology from San Diego State University. Her short documentaries have been screened at national and international film festivals. She is currently in production on her fourth film, along with Producer Laura Castañeda, Nash’s Journey: From El Barrio to Union Victory (2026), which follows a working-class leader’s rise to UAW local president.
Rowena Pedrena, MFA - Cinematographer

Rowena Pedrena is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning television producer with more than a decade of experience in scripted, reality, and documentary formats for feature films and television. Her credits include work featured on Netflix, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNBC, PBS, TLC, History Channel, NatGeo, Hearst Television, Food Network, and Discovery Channel.
In addition to her industry work, she is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas. As a multi-hyphenate artist (Writer/Producer/Director), her creative research lives at the intersection of unscripted and scripted media, applying scripted artistic techniques to elevate the unscripted form.
Alejandro Tamayo is an Emmy Award–winning multimedia producer, visual journalist, and educator born and raised in Southeast San Diego. A graduate of the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA), he began his career in video production in the 1990s and later returned to SCPA as a Theatre Media Specialist and ROP video production instructor. After leaving the classroom in 2011, he spent 13 years as a visual journalist with the San Diego Union-Tribune, producing impactful video, photo, and documentary-style stories on both sides of the U.S.–Mexico border.
His work has earned 11 Emmy Awards, an Overseas Press Club Award, and multiple Local and Los Angeles Press Club honors. Alejandro currently works as a Multimedia Producer for the San Diego County Office of Education and remains committed to mentoring the next generation of storytellers through the arts.

Braulio Medina is a dynamic visual storyteller specializing in video production, cinematography, and motion graphics. With a keen eye for framing and a passion for motion design, Braulio excels at transforming abstract creative concepts into striking cinematic realities.
His expertise spans the entire production lifecycle, seamlessly bridging high-end camera work with fluid, modern animations that capture attention. A natural collaborator, he partners closely with directors, marketers, and creative teams to deliver polished, high-impact video content that elevates brand narratives and connects deeply with audiences.
Jose "Pepe" Luquin | Full Stack Designer
Jose "Pepe" Luquin is a San Diego-based Full Stack Designer with 18 years of multidisciplinary expertise. Operating as a truly bilingual, bicultural, and cross-border creative force across California and Mexico, Pepe masterfully blends strategy with execution.
His core pillars lie in art direction, cohesive branding, website design, and video marketing. Over nearly two decades, he has served as a vital bridge between cross-functional teams and stakeholders, turning complex business goals into human-centered solutions. Driven by a deep curiosity for innovation, architecture, and neuropsychology, Pepe brings a unique, multifaceted perspective to every project.
